Gibellina Photoroad è un festival unico e visionario, il primo festival di fotografia open air e site-specific in Italia, in una città che è uno dei più grandi musei d’arte contemporanea “a cielo aperto” del mondo.
Stampe di grande formato, mostre outdoor, proiezioni e installazioni pensati per interagire col tessuto urbano di Gibellina, città priva di ogni tipo di inquinamento visivo e luminoso, in cui la visione delle mostre non è disturbata dal caos urbano.
Il festival si interroga su come la fotografia può interagire con lo spazio pubblico, trovando nuovi significati, visioni e interazioni con gli spettatori. E come può rivitalizzare la memoria, attivando la creazione contemporanea.
Nelle passate edizioni il festival ha presentato il lavoro di 120 artisti affermati ed emergenti in 90 esposizioni site-specific.
Il festival è promosso dal Comune di Gibellina e dalla Fondazione Orestiadi e organizzato dall’Associazione Culturale On Image.
Gibellina Photoroad is a unique and unusual event, the first and unparalleled open air and site-specific festival in Italy, and one of the few in the world. Large-format prints, outdoor exhibitions, projections and installations, thought to dialogue with the urban space of Gibellina, town without any kind of visual and light pollution in which the vision of the exhibitions is not disturbed by the urban chaos.
The festival questions how photography can shape itself in urban space, in the public space, finding new meanings, visions and interactions with the audience. And how photography can revitalize the memory, activating the contemporary creations.
In the past three editions, the festival presented the work by 120 famous and emerging artists in 90 unique site-specific exhibitions.
The festival is promoted by the Municipality of Gibellina and Fondazione Orestiadi and organized by the Cultural Association On Image.
